How the app chooses your next word¶
What decides which word MemoLeap Spelling asks you next during a practice round.
Words you've never been asked come first¶
Any word you've never answered is asked before anything else. If several are waiting, the app picks one of them at random. This is why a newly added word, or a newly switched-on group, turns up in your very next round.
The word you just answered isn't asked again straight away¶
The app never asks the same word twice in a row, unless it's the only word you're practising.
Words that have been waiting too long jump the queue¶
If a word hasn't come up for a long time compared with how many words you're practising, it's treated as overdue and asked next, ahead of the selection below. No word is left behind for ever, however well you know it.
Otherwise, it's a mix of random and targeted¶
When no word is new or overdue, each pick is one of two kinds:
- Random — any word can come up, whatever its grade.
- Targeted — words with a weaker grade are more likely to come up than words you've mastered, but any word can still appear.
On the free version about 7 picks in 10 are random. With Premium it's the other way round: about 7 in 10 are targeted, so rounds concentrate on the words you actually need to practise.
